I’ve been a financial planner for successful entrepreneurs for nearly two decades. After guiding hundreds of families to transition their wealth to the next generation, the most important thing I’ve learned is if we sacrifice our relationships for riches, both end up empty.

I come from a big tight-knit Italian family. Sunday dinners around the table, mom making sauce, season-tickets to the Rebels, and now Raiders games with Grandma, my brother and I debating our next real estate venture.

Then ten years ago, my family asked me to become our family trustee to lead four generations forward. We were not prepared for the mental and emotional roller coaster that would follow next.

Significant health issues shifted our family from harmony to stress as our loved ones faced losing their vitality, some facing mortality. Our joy-filled conversations suddenly became filled with uncertainty, sadness, and fear.

My role as family trustee now included family counselor, juggling vastly opposing emotional and financial needs. I realized our most important objective - protect and preserve our most precious asset, our relationships.

In search of the right resource, gratefully we found an independent family facilitator. She created a supportive environment to process our challenges, gain understanding of each other, communicate in a healthy way... AND my only role was to be a family member!

The gift in all of this was discovering my true life’s work: helping families build a strong relational foundation of trust and unity, rooted in healthy communication, to successfully transition wealth and leadership to future generations.
